MINI is proud to be an official partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB on their journey to London 2012. MINI is now getting right behind British athletes, via our Performance Team. MINI dealers like us will be pairing up with local athletes, supporting their endeavours to qualify for Team GB or ParalympicsGB.

We are really chuffed to announce that we are now supporting local T53 athlete, Nikki Emerson, as she attempts to qualify for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Nikki trains locally as a member of the High Wycombe Tri Club. In 2008 Nikki was driving back from Oxford University, where she was studying neuroscience and psychology, when she had a near-fatal car crash. During her time in hospital she watched the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games and was inspired to take up Paralympic sport by the athletes she saw on screen. She is now the current Bristish number one in the T53 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m disciplines, and has taken a silver medal at the 2010 U23 Work Track Championships.

“This is just so great,” said Nikki. “I can’t thank Sytner and MINI enough. I spend a lot of time driving to and from training sessions and driving to events ahead of London 2012 so having a brand new car is amazing. Suddenly, I’m the envy of all my friends!”

“It’s fantastic to have a local athlete hoping to qualify for London 2012,” said Richard Berry, Dealer Principal at Sytner High Wycombe. “We’re really rooting for Nikki and are delighted to be involved in her journey. Backing Nikki makes us all feel if we’re playing a part in the London 2012 Games too.”
